There are attractive walking trails through the wooded hills, which will take you to Oyunuma, a mysterious sulfurous pond. Make sure to take a break at the natural footbath in the Oyunuma River, which is a hot spring river that flows from the pond providing a surreal place to relax. Here you’ll get to learn how cheese is made and also take part in a fun ice cream making workshop with friendly locals! The pizza is delicious here too! Finish the day with a stroll through one of the most photogenic evening spots in Furano! The place is called, “Ningle Terrace,” a beautiful collection of boutique cottages, housing specialty arts and crafts along with their creators. Bring a nice camera!

Good morning! Start your day with an interesting rural experience on a farm taking part in a fun potato harvesting and butter making activity. Our next stop is a spacious cluster of shops called, “Furano Marche,” the ultimate food paradise selling local goods and souvenirs. This is a great place to stock up on local specialties and souvenirs for friends and family back home. On our way to your next destination, we’ll pass through Biei, a picturesque hilly area famous for its patchwork landscapes and an amazing region for panoramic photography. On the way, we’ll stop by the famous mysterious blue pond in Biei and the spectacular Shikisaino Oka flower fields. You’ll finish your day at the Largest National Park in all of Japan, Taisetsu National Park! Enjoy relaxing in the onsen and dinner at your hotel.

  4. DAY

    Asahidake - Asahikawa

Today you’ll explore the Largest National Park in all of Japan and one of the most powerful landscapes in Hokkaido. Welcome to Taisetsu National Park! Mt. Asahidake is the tallest mountain in Hokkaido, and a well-known active volcano with steam and snow-white smoke spewing from the earth’s core! Enjoy a tour on the ropeway looking down on the scenic landscape of autumn leaves that have changed colors to vivid reds and yellows, beautifully tinting the surface of the mountain. Light trekking on the mountain to a nearby sulfurous pond can also be arranged. After a delicious lunch at a cozy restaurant in Higashikawa Town, we’ll head to Asahikawa and enjoy a relaxing afternoon at the Takasago Sake Brewery! After a wild time at the zoo, make your way to an interesting collection of ramen shops called, the “Asahikawa Ramen Village,” where eight of the most famous ramen restaurants in Asahikawa have opened up small shops besides one another. This savory ramen is known for its thin wavy noodles and shoyu (soy sauce) based broth. We recommend ordering toppings to go with it, such as green onions, pork, and bamboo shoots. You’ll love it! Next stop, the nostalgic port town of Otaru! Old bank buildings and warehouses are still left from the times when this town thrived of herring fishing. Enjoy walking around the famous Otaru Canal, Sakai Machi Street, Music Box Museum, glass blowing shops, the LeTAO Cheesecake headquarters, and many more one-of-a-kind spots.
