Hokkaido is famous for flower fields, but you don’t have to wait until June to see them bloom! Come spend time to enjoy the island of Hokkaido in the early summer season! Hokkaido has a distinct change in seasons throughout the entire year. That means each month offers different sights to see and different foods to taste and enjoy!
Vast fields of flowers of many kinds are already in bloom on the eastern side of Hokkaido in May. This tour will take you on a journey around these newly colored areas, giving you the chance to see our beautiful nature in full bloom.

Chitose Airport - Sounkyo
Welcome to Hokkaido! After your arrival, head for Sounkyo, the center of Hokkaido. Two of the most beautiful falls on the island, Ginga no Taki and Ryusei no Taki, are sure to refresh you after your travels.

Sounkyo – Saroma
After checking out of your hotel, head to Takinoue to see one of our first highlights, the beautiful pink moss. We hope you’re excited to see the hills covered in pink! Drop by Mombetsu City to eat lunch, then visit the tulip park in Kamiyubetsu. Have you ever seen more than 1 million tulips? After spending time with the flowers and nature, enjoy the great view of Lake Saroma, and stay in Saroma for the night.

Saroma - Abashiri
Today starts with some excitement! A Helicopter Cruise to see the beautiful pink moss from above! This second pink moss park you visit offers a spectacular sight; from the sky, it looks like a big pink carpet!
After lunch, visit a dairy factory! There you can try fresh and delicious cheese or milk! Your hotel for the night will be in Abashiri, with an Onsen for you to relax.

Abashiri - Akan
The panorama you can see from the 525m Bihoro Pass is breathtaking. If you face the lake and climb a little, you can see a massive view of Lake Kussharo. In the afternoon, relax with the mystical Lake Mashu, and enjoy the active volcano Mt. Iou.
Lake Akan is another famous Onsen area. At night, take a stroll along the Onsen street, and do some souvenir shopping in the Ainu Village. The atmosphere here is very unique to Hokkaido!

Akan - Tokachigawa
In the morning, go on a cruise and land on a small island in Lake Akan. It is known for its “Marimo” exhibition and observation center; come here to learn more about these cute green moss balls found in the lake. On the way to Tokachigawa Onsen, make your own seafood bowl for lunch at the Washo Market in Kushiro. With a bowl of rice, you can walk around the market to buy toppings of your choice at different shops: crab, shrimp, scallop, salmon, and more. Eat whatever you like! Sounds fun, doesn’t it?
Next, visit a famous local desserts shop for some delicious pastries. Make yourself comfortable at your hotel near the Tokachi River. Please take your time to enjoy the special hot spring bath of this region: “Moor Onsen”. It is a very rare type of hot spring in the world. Ladies are thrilled to say “it does wonders for the skin!”

Tokachigawa - Sapporo
For early risers, a hot air balloon ride is an optional activity in the morning!
The last highlight of this tour is a picnic on a rapeseed flower farm! The rapeseed flower is one of the symbols of spring. This is a perfect way to enjoy the season, being surrounded by beautiful flowers while eating a charming Hokkaido meal.
In the afternoon, head for Sapporo and check-in to your hotel. Feel free to walk around the city for some shopping and exploration at night.

Have a full day in Sapporo City to enjoy the sights freely. Sleep in, visit the Sapporo Clock Tower, TV Tower, or Red Brick Government Building…even all of them if you like! A Lilac Festival takes place yearly in May at Odori Park; if the blooming period matches your travel, we highly recommend it. This day is for you to enjoy and mingle with the city people. Take your time and have fun!

Even your last day can be enjoyed to the fullest! Sapporo has many shopping facilities! Go shopping downtown before leaving the city, or enjoy shopping on the way at one of the outlet malls near the airport. In case if you didn’t have enough, there is a lot of seafood to buy and eat at the airport! We hope you could enjoy the many treasures of the island, and can’t wait to welcome you back again soon!
