Did you know that North Japan is one of the best cherry blossoms viewing locations in Japan? One perk of the area is that here you can adore the enchanting pale pink flowers for longer than in southern parts of the country. In Aomori and South Hokkaido, the “sakura” cherry blossom peek is usually around the last week of April to early May.
DAY
DAY 1: TOKYO – HIROSAKI (AOMORI)
Welcome to North Japan in full bloom! Your personal driver and local guide will be waiting for you at the train station.

The first stop of your adventure in Japan’s deep north will be the intriguing city of Goshogawara west from Aomori city. The city is famous for the fascinating “Goshogawara Tachineputa Festival” that is held every summer. At Tachineputa Hall visitors can appreciate the giant festival floats that are used at the legendary parade and experience the festival through interactive shows even when it is off-season.

After peeking into the intriguing local traditions, be ready to enjoy a full afternoon of sakura cherry blossoms in the most famous flower viewing spots of the area, such as the Hirosaki Castle!

DAY 2: HIROSAKI - HIROSAKI
Good morning Aomori! From Hirosaki city it is not so long to Kuroishi city, where you can have a taste of the inspiring local heritage. Here you will have an exquisite opportunity to learn about the true art behind Japanese sake through a local sake brewery guided tour at the historic Nakamachi Komise street.

Back in Hirosaki city, there will be more local tastes to devour. You will have a chance to enjoy the renowned Aomori apples in a unique apple pie tasting session at a traditional Japanese garden built in 1919. In the evening it will be time to dig even deeper into the hidden history and hunt for the secret spots of the Hirosaki city with a local guide.

DAY 3: HIROSAKI – AJIGASAWA
On the third day of your North Japan private tour, you will say goodbyes to the lovely Hirosaki and head towards Tsugaru city in the west by the Sea of Japan.

Your spring adventure takes you to the absolutely captivating Takayama Inari Jinja Shrine, a sister shrine of the Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine of Kyoto. The row of approximately 200 scarlet orangish red “Torii” gates looks mesmerizing and the sight is even more striking during the sakura cherry blossom season. As if this was not enough inspiration for one day, the next event of the day is a special Sumo experience!

DAY 4: AJIGASAWA – HAKODATE (HOKKAIDO)
Today you will be leaving Aomori Prefecture behind and head with the Shinkansen bullet train to the island of Hokkaido, Japan’s northernmost prefecture!

In the fascinating city of Hakodate, you will come across some of the best cherry blossom viewing spots in Japan. From an observation tower, you can appreciate the riveting sight of the star-shaped Fort Goryokaku covered in cherry blossoms. In the evening you can take a cable car to Mt. Hakodate for the world-famous Hakodate night view sunset.

DAY 5: HAKODATE – LAKE TOYA
Explore the Hakodate city on a deeper level with a local guide. This private guided day tour will start with a morning visit to the legendary Hakodate “Asaichi” Morning Market. Your adventure continues to “Motomachi” the old town of Hakodate, where you will have a chance to step back in time and delve into the city’s unique architectural mix of Japanese and Western characteristics.

DAY 6: LAKE TOYA – SAPPORO
The stunning view of Lake Toya in Shikotsu-Toya National Park can be appreciated from an observation platform right next to the lake. When you have finished taking in the beauty of the scenery, it is time to shift to the enchanting seaside town Yoichi.

The town is known for the celebrated Yoichi Nikka Whisky Distillery that produces the award-winning Nikka Whisky. Before getting to Hokkaido’s capital city Sapporo, you can embrace yet another must visit place of Hokkaido and stroll around the charming city of Otaru famed for its historic canal area and glass artisans.

DAY 7: SAPPORO – NEW CHITOSE AIRPORT
On the last day of your precious North Japan private tour there will be time to check some of the most important sightseeing spots of Sapporo (from Odori Park to Hokkaido Shrine covered in pink cherry trees) before heading to New Chitose Airport.
