Weather is now getting colder and colder…temperature today is about 14-23, but do you know that it is the nice climate for the leaves in the mountain?

Hokkaido Autumn color is yellowish in the mountain bottom and bit reddish at the peak.

Now is the best time to see it along the road, so you do not need to trek.

If you love to seek hidden scenery upper mountain, you’d better come here in early September!

But what about Spring and Summer? How about Winter?

I have my recommendation for all four season, so please check when is the  best time for you to come to Hokkaido!

    Spring

Spring starts from April to June.

Cherry blossoms decorate Hakodate city and Matusmae in May.

It is nice to walk around historical part of Hokkaido in soft pink!

I love to walk all the way around the Goryokaku Tower and Bughosho.

    History suits cherry blossoms!

Also, I still have a vivid image of Jozankei in spring.

I went there in spring time, and saw carp swam in the sky!

    It was very unique scenery.

*They are called as “Koi-nobonri”, carp steamers, to celebrate Japanese children’s day.

Since Jozankei is famous for the autumn leaves, there were not so many tourists here, so I enjoyed slow and relaxing time there.

Onsen and onsen manju, Japanese style sweets, were just so great!

And not forget about the pink moss!

It is like a gorgeous carpet, but it’s not for sale!

I can spend hours there to enjoy the flowers…

This pink moss flower carpet is a spring icon of Eastern Hokkaido,  so if you miss cherry blossoms, you may consider to see pink moss instead!

But please note that this flowers last only a week or so, so you’d better check the timing:)

Oh, and while Hokkaido is colored by flowers, you may spot cute fairies coming out from their nests!

Hokkaido squirrels do not hibernate, so they must be waiting for the warm spring breeze in a long chilly winter.

If you are lucky, you may see them enjoying spring feasts!

Not only small residents, but also huge visitors are looking forward to the spring, too!

Orcas come to Hokkaido every year, in spring time mainly!

    Aren’t they gorgeous?

Sometimes they will swim just beside your boat, and it was my unforgettable experience as well!

If you are an animal lover, this is my strong recommendations!
