A hot air ballooning flight experience to get a view of drift ices on Sea of Okhotsk from the sky started.
We were brought to Koshimizu-cho, which is about 40 minutes’ drive from a hotel in Abashiri-shi. We gathered at “Koshimizu Onsen Fureai Center”. We then head to the place to start a flight that changes depending on the wind direction. First off, our guides checked the burner like picture above.
Then they gradually blew up a balloon using a large electrical fan.
This large hot air balloon can carry 10 to 12 people.
They built the hot air balloon with the heat of the gas burner and now it was the time for us to get on it!
We were in the air! Floated!
We rapidly ascended.
The starting place looked so much small from the balloon.
We could overlook the road stretching toward Sea of Okhotsk.
We were packed in the basket but it would help stabilize the balloon.
We could see a drift ice region finally!
All of the white areas are drift ices, Sea of Okhotsk.
Above is the townscape of Koshimizu-cho where we gathered for this.
Riding on the northwest wind, our balloon reached at the altitude of 400 meters this day.
We could see Mount Shari of Shiretokorenzann in the distance.
We heard that the quantity of gas used for the burner per flight was equivalent to that of a monthly ordinary home use.
Windbreaks looked so beautiful.
Flight came close to the end.
We began to descend while looking for the place suitable for landing.
We landed at a cultivated field on a snowfield with a bang and finished our flight.
Dreamy flight with a superb view for about 40 minuets.
This flight is hosted by Tsuyoshi Miyahara.
He is the one and only domestic provider of a super impressive experience.
You can enjoy this flight from February 5th to March 5th.
