Of the various popular dog sledding experiences made available in Japan, this tour is considered to be the most authentic. Dog sledding is a very athletic activity in which the sled is a tool that binds human and dog. This isn’t simply a sleigh ride: You can think of the dogs as partners in this snowy amusement.

Courses will vary according to the quality of the snow, strength and technique of the participant, and condition of the dogs. You won’t be sledding on flat, compact snow: There will be sharp turns, ascents and descents over rough terrain, and difficult passages, like thin bridges, so there is a high possibility of wiping out.

During the tour, the harness will be in your hands. 6~10 dogs may join you as you ride standing on a 2.5 m long handmade two-person sled following your guide in a snowmobile. You will feel alive and elated from the moment you start. You will feel a tug in your arms, weight in your hands, and the speed of the sled picking up. The average speed is about 20~30 mph, but you will feel this multiplied within your body.

The total length of the course ranges between 7~9 km and consists of forests, snowy roads, hilly regions that offer 360-degree landscapes of pure white, and woody trails. You will help the dogs make ascents by peddling against the snow with one foot, regulate breaking on descents, and always keep hold of the harness, making you and the dogs a team. Experience the joy of clearing difficult passages amidst breathtaking scenery. Never a dull moment, it will be a time filled with thrills and a sense of accomplishment.
