Note: The information on this web page is updated from time to time, but since the situation is constantly changing, please also check the latest information from the Japanese government for the most up-to-date information.

Currently, entry to Japan by persons outside of Japan is prohibited unless there is a special reason. This applies to all tourism and other reasons (such as studying abroad) except for business reasons.
The Japanese government has begun considering how to proceed with the resumption of tourism (acceptance of tourists) in FY2022. Currently, international travel to Japan is not permitted except under special circumstances, but the success of Japan’s vaccination program and plans to ease border restrictions mean that there is a real prospect of travel being possible in the near future.
