Yubari melon, grown in Yubari, is a well-known melon brand from Hokkaido. It is renowned for its quality throughout Japan. Melon Terrace, an all you can eat restaurant in Yubari, where this quality produce is grown, opened this June.

The restaurant is on the Japan National Route 274. It is at a rest point with a large parking lot, roughly 10 minutes by car from the Roadside Station, Yubari Merodo, towards Sapporo. It is on the 2^nd floor of the Yubari Nokyo Meisan Center.

The entrance to the restaurant is covered by Melon Bear, the mascot of Yubari city, and you enter through its mouth.

Today’s buffet menu is made up of 10 dishes, such as regional vegetable ratatouille and juicy Zangi (deep fried chicken). There is also Yubari’s specialty, curry soba noodle.

There are 4 different drinks, including matcha green tea and iced coffee.

And, what everyone’s been waiting for, the Yubari melon corner. Melon cut into easy to eat pieces comes out in a continual stream. Yubari melon is collected by the Yubari Agricultural Cooperative, and only those that pass strict inspections can use the brand name. It is a type of cantaloupe. Yubari city is an area surrounded by mountains, with great differences in temperature. It is the ideal environment for producing melons with good soil and drainage, and sweet volcanic ash.

Eat as much as you like! There are free refills. You have 60 minutes to enjoy the buffet. It is replaced 4 times a day.

There are also seats on the outside terrace, where you can enjoy a gentle breeze while you eat.

Yubari melons are sold on the 1^st floor, which can be purchased as presents or can be delivered.
