Asahidake is part of the Taisetsuzan National Park, which is the largest National Park in Japan, consisting of three volcanic mountain groups. Autumn starts early up here, so you will probably be able to enjoy some autumn foliage mid-late September.

Asahidake behind the Sugatami Lake is gorgeous! Drive to Sounkyo, the backside of the Taisetsuzan National Park, and visit the Ginga and Ryusei Waterfalls, another refreshing location to marvel at nature’s beauty.

  • DAY3

    Sounkyo - Abashiri

Drive to Engaru, where a field of colorful Cosmos are waiting to welcome you! After a BBQ lunch at a local restaurant with fresh food of the region, visit Lake Saroma and Lake Notoroko. The Coral Grass stretching out into the wilderness is quite a sight! In the evening, drive to Abashiri to your hotel and relax in the hot bath.

  • DAY4

    Abashiri - Shiretoko

In the morning, visit Chipmunk Park to make some adorable new friends! After the cuteness overload, depart for Shiretoko. This peninsula in eastern Hokkaido was designated as a World Nature Heritage Site in 2005. Enjoy the day visiting waterfalls and beautiful lakes, be immersed in untouched nature. Don’t niss the beautiful sunset!

  • DAY5

    Shiretoko - Akan

Enjoy a cruise in Shiretoko to see wildlife in their natural habitat. Stop by a river to get a chance to see the salmon running upstream, a powerful sight! After lunch, visit an active volcano: Mount Io. Feel the earth come “alive” as the whole mountain is steaming before your very eyes. More natural wonders discovered as you dip your feet into a sand footbath. Visit Lake Mashu, proud to be described as having some of the clearest water on earth! Stay at Lake Akan for the night. Another famous Onsen town in Hokkaido. Be sure to walk through the Ainu Village in the evening to experience the unique culture of the island.

  • DAY6

Take a cruise on Lake Akan to visit the green moss museum. Make your own seafood bowl for lunch at the Washo Market in Kushiro. With a bowl of rice, you can walk around the market and buy toppings of your choice at different shops: crab, shrimp, scallop, salmon, and more. Sounds fun, doesn’t it?
Drive to Tokachi, a large agricultural region of Hokkaido, also famous for its delicious dairy products. Enjoy the ‘Moor Onsen’ at your hotel. It is famous as ‘Bijin no Yu’ which means ‘Onsen for Beauty’. It really makes your skin smooth!

  • DAY7

    Tokachigawa - Sapporo

Time to experience the harvest! Enjoy a picnic on a farm and harvest your own corn to taste in the fields! Thanks to all the dairy farms around, the Tokachi region has several famous confectionary factories. Visit one of them: Ryugetsu. Drive to Sapporo in the afternoon, and enjoy the evening there. We recommend eating some local favorites for dinner: Ramen, Genghis Khan, or Soup Curry!
